This Privacy Policy describes how SPACE SAVER ("the Application"), developed by K2-18 LTD, handles your information.

We take your privacy extremely seriously. SPACE SAVER is designed to be a local-only utility tool, meaning that all file scanning, hash generation, duplicate comparison, and deletion processes occur entirely on your device.

1. Information We Collect and Process

No Personal Information Collected: We do not collect, store, transmit, or request any personally identifiable information (PII), such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account details.
No File Data Collected or Uploaded: The Application scans your local directories and media libraries to identify duplicate files (images, music, video, documents, and archives). All file analysis and SHA-256 hash comparisons are performed locally in-memory on your device. None of your files, photo assets, file names, file contents, or metadata are ever uploaded to our servers, shared with third parties, or collected by us.

2. Device Permissions Required

To function as a duplicate scanner across different platforms, the Application requires access to local storage or media libraries. Depending on the version and platform you use, the following permissions are required:

Android (including ChromeOS / Chromebooks)

Media & Gallery Permissions (`READ_MEDIA_IMAGES` / `READ_MEDIA_VIDEO`): On Android 13 (API level 33) and newer, these permissions allow the Application to scan your device's photo and video gallery (MediaStore) to find duplicate media files.
All Files Access (`MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE`): On Android 11 (API level 30) and newer, this permission is used to allow the Application to scan broad storage directories (such as `Downloads`, `Documents`, and external storage) for duplicate files across all categories.
Storage Access Framework (Folder Picker): When selecting custom folders, Android's system document picker allows you to grant access to scan and remove duplicates in specific selected folders.
Storage Read/Write (`READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE` / `WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE`): Used on older Android versions (Android 10 and below) to read files for duplicate scanning and remove files that you choose to delete.

iOS / iPadOS

Photo Library Access (`NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription` / `NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription`): Used to access and scan your device's Photo Library and Camera Roll for duplicate photos and videos. When you choose to remove duplicate photos or videos, iOS displays a standard system confirmation prompt to move the chosen items to your Recently Deleted album.
Folder & Document Picker (`UIDocumentPickerViewController`): When you choose to scan a custom folder, iCloud Drive directory, or connected external storage (such as USB flash drives or SD card readers), the system document picker grants access to read and remove duplicates within that specific user-selected location.

Windows & macOS

Local File System Access: The application requires permissions to read files and directories that you explicitly select for scanning, and to delete files that you choose to remove.

Docker / Self-Hosted Web App

Local Directory Mounts (Volumes): When deployed via Docker (e.g., using `docker-compose.yml`), the application scans only the directories mapped to the `/data` path inside the container. This access is restricted to the host folders that you choose to mount (e.g., `./data:/data`) for scanning.

How we use these permissions: These permissions and mounts are used exclusively to perform local duplicate file searches and to delete duplicate files that you explicitly select for removal. We do not access or use these permissions to collect or transmit any of your files or data. All operations remain 100% private, local, and on-device within your own environment.

3. Data Sharing and Transfer

Since we do not collect any user data, we do not share, sell, rent, trade, or transfer any information to third parties, advertising networks, or analytics providers.

4. Children’s Privacy

The Application does not collect any data and is safe for users of all ages, including children. We do not knowingly solicit or collect information from children under the age of 13.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be made available by updating this document within the repository or application. Your continued use of the Application after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
